Muscat Favourite After Russell Martin Dismissal

Rangers have parted company with head coach Russell Martin following Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Falkirk, leaving the club 11 points behind in the Scottish Premiership title race.

The decision comes after just one league win in seven matches and increasing unrest among supporters, culminating in fans blocking the team bus and heavily criticising Martin after the final whistle.

A club statement confirmed Martin’s departure, along with assistant Matt Gill and first-team coach Mike Williamson, thanking the trio for their efforts while acknowledging results “have not met the club’s expectations."

UK Betting Sites are now giving betting odds on the Next Rangers Manager with Kevin Muscat leading the early market at 2/1.

Kevin Muscat Leads Market

Former Rangers defender Kevin Muscat is the bookmakers’ 2/1 favourite to take over at Ibrox.

The Australian, who enjoyed success managing in Japan with Yokohama F. Marinos, is widely viewed as a strong candidate given his understanding of the club’s culture and reputation for disciplined, attacking football.

Muscat’s connection to the club has made him the early frontrunner, although there will be competition from several high-profile names.

Familiar Names in the Frame

Danny Röhl (9/4), previously impressing at Sheffield Wednesday, has been linked to a number of jobs across Europe and is regarded as one of the brightest young coaches in the game.

Meanwhile, Steven Gerrard (5/2) features prominently in the betting for a sensational return to Ibrox. Gerrard led Rangers to their 55th league title in 2021 and remains popular among sections of the fanbase.

Elsewhere, Sean Dyche (11/4) and Derek McInnes (7/2) are seen as experienced options capable of steadying the team after a turbulent start to the campaign.

Club in Crisis After Poor Run

Rangers’ form this season has been well below expectations.

With just one league win and 14 goals conceded, the pressure on Martin became unsustainable.

The club sit 11 points behind Celtic, with fans demanding swift action to revive their title hopes.

The club’s hierarchy confirmed that “further updates will follow in due course,” with an interim appointment possible before a permanent successor is named.
